UNFPA Sri Lanka, with a grant in aid from the Government of Japan of USD 1.4 million, is implementing a three-year project to improve access to youth-friendly SRH information and services, as well as promote SRHR of young people and women at the National level and the Provincial level targeting North, East, South and Central Provinces. This is an initiative between Japan and Sri Lanka for further implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security agenda.
Through its activities, the project aims to:
- Reposition Family Planning as a human right and a choice
- Equip women and youth-friendly health centres to better provide information and services of SRHR and
- Strengthen capacities of shelters for SGBV survivors - an urgent need even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic
The ultimate goal is to ensure upholding every woman's, girl's and young person's right to access information and quality services of SRH and GBV which will contribute to sustaining peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
