In December 2015, UNFPA commissioned a national study on sexual harassment against women on public buses and trains in Sri Lanka. The objective of the study was to generate research-based information in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the prevalence, incidence, frequency, nature and extent of sexual harassment on public transport. The study revealed that 90% of women have been subjected to sexual harassment at least once on public buses and trains.
