UNFPA Sri Lanka recently conducted a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing the capacity of law enforcement officers in managing police emergency waiting areas. The training focused on equipping officers from across the country with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to gender based violence (GBV) incidents.
During the training sessions, officers gained a deeper understanding of the crucial role and responsibilities of law enforcement in addressing GBV, encompassing prevention, investigation, and support for survivors. They were trained to conduct interviews and investigations with sensitivity and empathy towards survivors, ensuring a survivor-centered approach in their interactions.
