In response to the devastating floods that displaced and impacted communities across Sri Lanka, UNFPA Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs and with support from the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, delivered essential humanitarian aid to women and girls disproportionately affected during crises.

As part of the response, dignity kits containing essential hygiene and personal care items were distributed to ensure the health, safety, and dignity of women and girls who face unique challenges in emergency situations. These kits play a vital role in meeting the immediate needs of those affected, enabling them to maintain basic hygiene and well-being amidst the disruptions caused by the floods.

The collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs ensured that the aid reached the most affected communities efficiently, while support from the Australian Government underscored the critical role of international partnerships in responding to humanitarian emergencies.

The floods have impacted thousands of families across the country, disrupting lives and livelihoods. Women and girls, in particular, face increased vulnerabilities in accessing hygiene products, safe spaces, and essential support during such crises.
