The newly renovated Psychosocial Centre in Batticaloa was officially handed over today, marking a key milestone in strengthening mental health services in Sri Lanka. Supported by the Government of Japan and implemented in partnership with the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to ensuring psychosocial support reaches those who need it most.
Equipped with essential resources, the upgraded center will provide a range of vital services, including family counseling, youth mental health support, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education, suicide prevention, and gender-based violence (GBV) response for women, girls, and youth.
The Batticaloa region has faced longstanding challenges in accessing mental health services due to resource limitations. This upgraded facility addresses those gaps, offering individuals and families a safe space to seek care and support.
The Psychosocial Centre stands as a symbol of hope, collaboration, and progress, showcasing the power of partnerships to address mental health needs and promote resilience. With its doors open to the community, the center is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those seeking care and support.
Together, we are building a future where no one is left behind.
