The UNFPA team is actively involved in efforts to improve maternal and child health (MCH), sexual and reproductive health (SRH), and combat gender-based violence (GBV) in Sri Lanka. Our recent field visits in Nuwara Eliya involved productive discussions with clients, public health personnel, and administration to enhance the provision of MCH, SRH, and GBV services. Additionally, we placed a significant focus on improving youth and adolescent SRH services.
In Batticaloa, UNFPA Sri Lanka conducted an assessment to evaluate the current status of SRH, MCH, and GBV prevention. UNFPA Sri Lanka were deeply impressed by the dedicated grassroots delivery of mental health services in the region and the unwavering commitment to SRH service delivery. The impactful Cash and Voucher distribution program carried out by FPA Sri Lanka and Save the Children Sri Lanka had a lasting and positive impact.
