During a recent visit to the Northern Province, the UN Sri Lanka team engaged with communities, civil society, and local leaders on key priorities including economic recovery, gender equality, and social cohesion in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the University of Jaffna, a powerful discussion was facilitated by UNFPA Sri Lanka Representative, Kunle Adeniyi, bringing together students to reflect on governance, social justice, and employment opportunities in the region.
Students not only articulated the barriers to youth empowerment but also proposed bold and practical solutions—highlighting the importance of including young people in nation-building and decision-making processes. Their insights reinforced the critical role youth play in shaping a more inclusive, united, and sustainable Sri Lanka.
