UNFPA Sri Lanka, together with the World Bank, is supporting the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) with financial assistance and technical expertise for the formulation of the Sri Lanka Strategy for the Development of Statistics (SLSDS).
With UNFPA's support, the Department of Census and Statistics conducted a workshop on the 5th of June, to discuss Statistics for Human and Social Development aimed at supporting the formulation of the Sri Lanka Strategy for Development of Statistics.
By convening key stakeholders and technical experts on one platform, this series of sectoral workshops aims to assist the Department of Census and Statistics in paving the way towards a sustainable future for all in Sri Lanka.
Previously, sectoral workshops for the formulation of SLSDS were conducted as follows:
- 2nd May: Sectoral Workshop on Economic Development
- 6th May: Sectoral Workshop on crafting the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the Sri Lanka Strategy for Development of Statistics
- 29th & 30th May: Sectoral Workshop on Environment and Natural Resourses Management
During these workshops, UN personnel and World Bank experts shared international frameworks and best practices, while participants, primarily from government ministries and departments, discussed key initiatives to include in the SLSDS.
