UNFPA in partnership with the World Bank is providing technical and financial support to the Department of Census and Statistics for the formulation of the Sri Lanka Strategy for the Development of Statistics (SLSDS).
Through this support, the Department of Census and Statistics conducted a workshop on 6 May to craft the vision, mission and strategic objectives of the SLSDS.
Sectoral workshops on:
(1) Economic Development was held on 2 May and
(2) Environment and Natural Resources Management were held on 29 and 30 May.
UN and World Bank experts shared international frameworks and best practices and the participants, primarily from government ministries and departments, discussed key initiatives to include in the SLSDS.
