In a groundbreaking move towards gender-inclusive climate action, the Ministry of Environment, alongside UNFPA Sri Lanka, UNDP Sri Lanka, and SLYCANTrust, recently convened a pivotal policy dialogue on "Sri Lankan Women and Girls in Climate Action." This collaborative effort brought together diverse stakeholders to delve into the critical nexus between climate change and sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The dialogue provided a platform for experts, advocates, and policymakers to exchange ideas and strategies, highlighting the indispensable role of women and girls in driving climate action. An accompanying exhibition showcased inspiring projects and initiatives spearheaded by women, girls, and youth, further emphasizing the imperative link between #ClimateAction and gender equality.

As calls to #InvestInWomen echo louder, the event underscored the urgent need to prioritize the meaningful participation of women in shaping a sustainable future for all. By amplifying the voices of women and girls and recognizing their invaluable contributions to climate resilience, the dialogue laid the groundwork for transformative change at the intersection of climate action and gender empowerment.

Moving forward, stakeholders are poised to translate dialogue into action, leveraging insights gained to inform policies and initiatives that prioritize gender-responsive climate solutions. With continued commitment and collaboration, Sri Lanka is poised to lead the charge towards a more equitable and sustainable future, where women and girls are at the forefront of climate action efforts.
