At the Launch of the Campaign on Sexual Harassment in Public Transport, Hon. Bimal Rathnayake, M.P., Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, addressed the gathering and emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure safe and dignified travel for all citizens, particularly women and girls. He highlighted that public transport should be a space of trust and security, not fear, and underlined the urgent need for stronger enforcement, awareness, and community accountability to eliminate harassment. The Minister reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders to create a safer, more inclusive transport system across Sri Lanka.
