Sri Lanka has faced severe drought, floods, and landslides in recent years, which have left thousands of women and girls vulernable, during and after emergency situations. In the wake of these disasters, families are left homeless, affecting their security, privacy and hygiene.

In crisis situations, one in five women of childbearing age is likely to be pregnant. These reports are based on the 2012 Census on Population and Housing and provide comprehensive analyses on important aspects of Sri Lanka’s population dynamics.

Population projections show that the proportion of Sri Lankans above the age of 60 years will increase from 14% in 2017 to 22% by the year 2037.
